Except for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5), the hardware is mostly unchanged. Both the Raspberry Pi OS 32-bit/64-bit Lite and Desktop versions are available, and EDATEC offers the required drivers, demonstrating consistent software support. Nonetheless, there are a few recognized CM5-specific problems that need more focus:

  • The RS485 function is currently unavailable and needs manual modifications by EDATEC to enable it, though this service is offered upon request.
  • Some mSATA SSDs exhibit slow read speeds.
  • Only two RS232 ports (JCOM1 and JCOM2) are fully functional at present, with ongoing software development to enable the additional RS232 ports (JCOM3–JCOM6).

Pre-configured models such as the ED-SBC3310-10432-PH and ED-SBC3310-10832-PH are available on AliExpress for $233.00 and $275.00, respectively. These include WiFi, Bluetooth, PoE, a heatsink, and 4GB or 8GB RAM with 32GB eMMC storage. For those who require the power of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 in a mini-ITX form factor, the EDATEC ED-SBC3300 offers a stable and adaptable industrial platform. It is a great solution for embedded, industrial, and Internet of Things applications due to its many connectivity features, which include USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and extension headers.
